The Smith Family Foundation NJ is pleased to present our 2nd annual #thisismytrenton Stars Awards! There is so much negative news about our Great City everyday and these same news outlets rarely share stories about the wonderful people who have been “born and bread” right here on the streets of Trenton, in the hall of TCHS or the under the guidance of coaches, teachers, and ministers dedicated to their success. On October 12, 2019, we will take the time to celebrate these “Home Grown” Stars who are looking to shine their light to inspire the next generation of Trentonians to see Higher Education as a Normal Next Step! Along with our Corporate sponsors (Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Prince & Pearl Catering and many more) we will be celebrating some of Trenton’s Brightest Stars. Our LifeTime Achievement Awardee is Donald W. Davis! Awarded for outstanding vision, dedication, and commitment to the Trenton Community, we honor long time Trenton-Resident and Leader, Donald W. Davis. In recognition and with appreciation of his valuable contributions to education, outreach, and family development. Tickets are available for purchase on our website. Donations are tax deductible. All Proceeds will go to programming that supports Higher Education as the Normal Next Step and College Scholarships for Trenton Youth.

College Freshman Care Packages

The Smith Family Foundation of New Jersey believes that Higher Education is the normal next step for students after high school!
This means that students are working during their high school career with the goal in mind to attend a two or four year college, trade school, or to become career ready upon their graduation. Along with our corporate sponsors, Wilkin & Guttenplan, P.C., Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, and Johnson and Johnson, on August 6, 2020 we will celebrated our 4th Annual College Freshmen Care Package Give Away to show our support and dedication to young people moving on to institutions of higher
education. The give away was a huge success. Last school year we were able to serve over 300 students, this year (2020-2021) we will provided 500 care packages to low-income, first-generation college students. The College Care Package Give Away is our way of supporting local youth and letting them know how proud we are as they pursue their educational endeavors.

Pictures above show the students receiving their care packages and some of our partners. Students served were from Trenton Public Schools, Charter Schools and Community Organizations. We are also in partnership with The College of New Jersey’s Educational Opportunity Fund.
