Resource Center



The resource Center gives our community partners access equipment and technology needed to propel them to the next level. The Resource Center features include a library, conference room, online resources for webinars, video conferencing, usage of a SMART Board and other office equipment and supplies. In addition, there will be many workshops on developing leadership and current trends in the nonprofit sector, helping organizations to sustain and achieve organizational growth, while transforming lives and impacting the city towards positive change!


There are 3 membership packages available that give users access to The Resource Room and associated amenities.  One Time Usage Fees and Conference Fees are available upon request. The Resource Center is located at 407 State Street, Trenton NJ. There is a conference room on-site that seats 12 and a classroom that seats 24. The primary purpose of these rooms is to support our partners and their organizations that do not have the space to hold workshops or meetings at their location. The rooms may be reserved based on availability.


The Smith Family Foundation Resource Center maintains consistent, posted hours of service during which all services of the Resource Center are available to patrons. Those hours are: Monday thru Friday 9:30 am – 4:30pm. These hours are subject to change by the Smith Family Foundation.

Conference room /Classroom may be used only when all the following conditions are met:

  1. The organization conducting the meeting is not doing so for the immediate or ultimate gain of a for-profit business or agency.
  2. The meeting or workshop takes place during regular resource center hours.
  3. The meeting or workshop will not disrupt the ability of the Smith Family Foundation to conduct its business in a normal and orderly manner.
  4. Organization’s leadership must make the reservation for the rooms.
  5. The organization assumes all responsibility for setting up and cleaning up the room.
  6. The organization assumes responsibility for all damages taking place during their usage of the facilities.

To meet the objectives of the resource center, the center offers display space to organizations engaged in educational, cultural, intellectual or charitable activities as space permits.

The following general guidelines apply:

  1. Approval for posting of materials must be obtained from the Resource Center director.
  2. First preference is given to the promotion and display of library events.
  3. Posters and / or other printed materials promoting programs/ projects of a commercial or political nature will not be displayed or
  4. Notices / posters with printed charges are accepted if sponsored by organizations which can prove a non-profit, tax-exempt status.
  5. Items left without approval will be discarded without notification after 5 days.
  6. The Smith Family Foundation reserves the right to make the final decision as to whether a given piece is to be displayed.

Occasionally, exhibits from sources within the community may be allowed in the resource center. All exhibits considered for space within the resource center must support the mission of the Smith Family Foundation Resource Center and not cause disruption of the regular flow of center work and service. Such exhibits will remain in place for not longer than four weeks, with set up and removal being the responsibility of the exhibitor. The Smith Family Resource Center assumes no liability for damage or loss relating to any exhibit set-ups for public viewing in the center and will take no extraordinary measures to insure its safety.





Developmental leadership workshops will be offered by the leadership of the Smith Family Foundation. Quarterly schedule for various trainings can be found on our website. You must call to reserve your seating for any trainings offered, due to limited seats. Fees for various trainings can be found on our Resource Center fee schedule.

When you sign your library card you assume responsibility for anything that is checked-out on the card. If you change your address, email address, etc., notify the resource center on your next visit. If your library card is lost or stolen, it is very important to notify the us as soon as possible since you are still responsible for items checked out on your card.

The Resource Center library has established, in addition to the schedule for lost or damaged items, a schedule of fines for overdue materials as well as fees for other services provided by the resource center/library. When an item is lost, you will be charged the cost of the item and shipping fees, overdue fines for any items borrowed is a $1.00 a day per item. The fee to replace a library card is $2.00

Please note any items damage or not returned, in addition to equipment of the Smith Family Foundation Resource Center will be billed to financial information on file. The Smith Family Foundation Resource Center will give notice of amounts prior to charging any account. Patrons have two weeks to respond prior to charging of any account for other options to pay balance being charged.

It is the policy of the Smith Family Foundation Resource Center to: (a) prevent user access over its computer network to, or transmission of, inappropriate material via Internet, electronic mail, or other forms of direct electronic communications; (b) prevent unauthorized access and other unlawful online activity; (c) prevent unauthorized online disclosure, use, or dissemination of personal identification information of minors. If this policy is violated in any way partnering organizations with the Smith Family Foundation will lose their privilege permanently from the resource center as a matter of administrative policy.

Resource Center privileges expire every year from previous date of joining. To renew your account, please present proof your organization is currently active. Must sign terms and agreements of the Resource center and provide ID and update any billing requirements. Please note all personal information of partnering organizations is keep in locked file, and is disclosed only to supervising staff of Smith Family Foundation.



All resource center patrons are expected to conform to the rules listed below. Persons violating these rules may be instructed by a person in authority to leave the building. Failure to leave as instructed constitutes trespassing.

  1. Disorderly conduct is prohibited.
  2. Physical abuse, assault on another person, or the use of abusive, insulting or threatening language to a person in the building shall be cause for removal of the offending party or parties.
  3. Persons intoxicated from alcohol or other drugs will be advised to leave the premises.
  4. Improper acts, which are subjected to prosecution under criminal or civil codes of law, are prohibited.
  5. Smoking, food and drink are not permitted in the resource center.
  6. Guide dogs for the physically disabled are admitted but other animals or pets are to remain outside the building.
  7. Children younger than 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children who are causing a disturbance will be dealt with as the need arises.

Anyone known to have violated any of the above rules or anyone known to have habitually violated the law may be excluded and lose their privilege permanently from the resource center as a matter of administrative policy. The Trenton Police Department will be contacted in severe instances.
